We are all set for a visit from our Green Schools Officer next week. We are hoping that we will be successful in attaining our 6th Green Flag – ‘Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste’. That is a long title!
Have a look at the fantastic work around the school – we are now rinsing and recycling our milk cartons. It’s a lot of work, but have a look at the difference this is making in reducing waste. The teachers are being monitored too! They are now taking their lunch waste home too – ‘Practise what you preach’ is so true!
We created our own green superhero called Superlou who, along with the Green Team, gives us handy tips and tells us ‘No waste – to Infinity and Beyond’ (our green code).
We have learned what it means to be a Global Citizen and have started to understand how each of us has a part to play in keeping the earth healthy and green. We have done this through learning about food journeys, pollution in our oceans, flooding in Venice and an amazing array of recycled art throughout the school.
Now, fingers crossed for next week!
