We’ve had two days of toe-tapping, hand-clapping, spirit-lifting and soul-filling music.

On Tuesday, the “Bachelor Brass Quintet” played for us and taught us about the trumpet, French horn, tuba and trombone. The Quintet includes past pupils who we were delighted to welcome back to the school. They have been flying the St. Louis flag high through their performances and skill.

On Wednesday we were lucky to welcome a jazz band called “Cuban Orishas”. The band members come from Venezuela, Spain and Cuba. The band led the children through a percussion workshop before concluding with a concert for the entire school.

St. Louis has a rich musical tradition. The children were inspired by the wonderful performances over the past two days. Judging by the participation of the children, the musical tradition looks set to continue.
