St. Louis Infant School is a co-educational, Catholic, primary school, which strives to provide a well—ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and nurtured. While St. Louis Infant School is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also enrols pupils of other religions and none. The school encourages the involvement of parents through a range of contacts and through their involvement in the St. Louis Parents’ Association, St. Louis Infant School endeavours to enhance the self-esteem of everyone in the school community, to imbue in the pupils respect for people and property and to encourage them to be thoughtful, responsible and caring. St Louis Infant School is the Catholic parish school of Rathmines. It was founded was founded by the Sisters of St Louis in 1940 and shares a campus with St Louis Primary School. Both schools share many facilities in common, including school yards, grounds and the assembly/PE hall. The school shared the resident caretaker Mr Cullen for 61 years until 2001. (read more)
St Louis Infant School accepts pupils from 4 years of age in accordance with the terms of the enrolment policy of the school. Parents of prospective pupils may register their interest by completing a pre-enrolment form. Pre-enrolment forms may be submitted to the school approximately two years in advance of entry to Junior Infants. (find out more)
St Louis Infant School follows the curriculum as deﬁned by the Department of Education & Skills which can be accessed on our Curriculum Page. The subject areas are English. Gaeilge. Maths, SESE (Social, Environmental & Scientiﬁc Education incorporating History, Geography & Science), Arts (Music, Drama, Visual Arts), SPHE (Social Personal & Health Education), PE (Physical Education) and Religion.
St Louis lnfant School organises a variety of school-based events throughout the year to enhance your child’s learning and school experience. School events include Friendship Fortnight, Grandparents Day, Active Week, Mí na Gaeilge & Céilí Mór, Science Week, Tree Day, Sports Day, March Fair, School Tours to name but a few! A school concert is held every Christmas where all children perform and parents and extended family are welcome to attend. Additional themed events and assemblies are arranged from time to time.
The school has been awarded four green flags by Green-Schools for the areas of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water and Travel. Pupils continue to work on each of the areas in order that they become responsible citizens of their environment.
St Louis Infant School strives to provide an educational environment which is suitable for the education of young children. Over the years, successive Boards of Management have undertaken programmes of maintenance and upgrade to ensure that pupils are educated in a clean, comfortable school environment.
